– 1/3 cup tamari or soy sauce for the beef

– 1/3 cup sweet chili sauce for the beef

– 2 cups chopped Thai basil for the beef

– 1 can of coconut milk for the lemongrass rice

– 1/3 cup water for the lemongrass rice

– 1 1/2 cups jasmine rice for the lemongrass rice

– 1 tablespoon lemongrass paste for the lemongrass rice

Instructions

1-Getting started: Getting started with Thai basil beef bowls is straightforward and fun, especially with this step-by-step guide. First, gather your ingredients and mix the salad to let the flavors blend while you cook the rest. Toss together 1 cup shredded carrots, 1 sliced bell pepper, 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro, 2 chopped green onions, 2 tablespoons fish sauce, 2 tablespoons lime juice, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon oil, and 2 teaspoons chili flakes in a bowl, then set it aside.

2-Next, heat a skillet over medium heat and cook 1 pound of ground beef with black pepper until it’s browned, which takes about 5 minutes. Add 4 cloves of minced garlic and 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger, cooking for another minute to release their aroma. Stir in 1/3 cup tamari or soy sauce and 1/3 cup sweet chili sauce, along with half of the 2 cups chopped Thai basil, and let it simmer for 3 to 5 minutes until the sauce clings to the beef.

3-Remove from heat and mix in the remaining Thai basil for a fresh burst. For the lemongrass rice, bring 1 can of coconut milk and 1/3 cup water to a low boil in a pot. Add 1 1/2 cups jasmine rice and 1 tablespoon lemongrass paste, cover, and cook on low heat for 10 minutes. Turn off the heat and let it sit covered for 15 to 20 minutes before fluffing it up. To serve, divide the rice and beef into bowls, top with the salad, and add optional roasted peanuts, sesame seeds, or fresh basil for extra flair.
