Ingredients
2 (16-ounce) loaves French bread
8 ounces spaghetti
1 pound Italian sausage casing removed
Olive oil as needed
1 cup chopped onion
4 cloves garlic minced
2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
24 ounces marinara sauce
1/2 cup butter room temperature
2–3 cloves garlic minced
2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
3 tablespoons fresh parsley or basil chopped
Instructions
1-Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and cook the 8 ounces of spaghetti according to package instructions, then drain it well.
2-In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown and crumble the 1 pound of Italian sausage until fully cooked; remove it and set aside. Reserve 2 tablespoons of fat from the skillet, adding olive oil as needed.
3-SautΓ© the 1 cup of chopped onion and 4 cloves of minced garlic on medium-low heat until soft, about 5 minutes. Stir in 2 teaspoons of Italian seasoning and the 24 ounces of marinara sauce, then simmer for 5 to 10 minutes.
4-Add the cooked spaghetti to the sauce and mix until evenly coated. For the garlic spread, combine the 1/2 cup of room temperature butter, 2-3 cloves of minced garlic, and 2 teaspoons of Italian seasoning in a small bowl until smooth.
5-Hollow out the interior of the 2 (16-ounce) loaves of French bread, leaving about a 1/2-inch border. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly inside the bread halves and toast them in the preheated oven.
6-Spoon the spaghetti mixture evenly onto the toasted bread halves. Top each half with 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese and bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the cheese is melted and browned.
7-Garnish with the 3 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley or basil, then slice with a serrated knife to serve. Letβs make this together and enjoy the cheesy, garlicky goodness!
