24 ounces (1 1/2 pounds) white mushrooms, diced

8 ounces bacon, chopped into thin strips

2 tablespoons mayonnaise

1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste

1/4 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste

2 1/2 cups (8 ounces) cheese blend, finely shredded

1/4 cup fresh chopped parsley, plus more for garnish

2 soft French baguettes, sliced into 1/2-inch thick toasts

Instructions

1-First, preheat the oven to 350˚F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. This sets the stage for even baking and easy cleanup.

2-Next, heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon butter and the diced onion; sauté while stirring often until soft and lightly golden, about 5-7 minutes.

3-Then, add the garlic and stir until fragrant, roughly 1 minute, before transferring to a mixing bowl.

4-In the same skillet, add another 1 tablespoon butter and sauté the mushrooms over medium-high heat until soft and their juices evaporate, taking about 10-12 minutes.

5-Add this to the mixing bowl as well.

6-Now, sauté the bacon in the skillet until browned, around 7 minutes, then drain excess fat on paper towels before adding it to the bowl.

7-Assembling and Baking: Combine the shredded cheese, chopped parsley, mayonnaise, salt, and pepper in the bowl; stir everything together until well mixed. Spoon the mixture generously onto the baguette slices, mounding and shaping with the spoon. Bake at 350˚F for 15 minutes until everything is melted and bubbly.

8-For dietary adaptations, use gluten-free bread or vegan cheese and adjust as needed to keep that perfect melt.

9-Garnish with extra fresh parsley and serve warm. This step-by-step approach ensures you get that ideal texture and flavor, making it a hit for busy families or food enthusiasts.
