Ingredients

– 12 large eggs

– 3 cups milk or half & half

– 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (from block)

– 1 1/2 cups shredded smoked gouda cheese (from block)

– 1 cup chopped deli ham

– 1 cup scallions

– 3/4 cup chopped roasted red pepper

– 1 1/2 teaspoons ground mustard

– 1 teaspoon garlic powder

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

– 12-ounce loaf French bread

Instructions

1-Here’s how to get started: First, grease a baking dish and chop all ingredients as necessary, like cutting the scallions and roasted red pepper.

2-Second, in a large mixing bowl, whisk together 12 large eggs, 3 cups milk or half & half, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 1/2 teaspoons ground mustard, and 1 teaspoon garlic powder until the yolks are fully broken and mixed.

3-Third, stir in 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese, 1 1/2 cups shredded smoked gouda cheese, 1 cup chopped deli ham, 1 cup scallions, and 3/4 cup chopped roasted red pepper into the egg mixture.

4-Fourth, tear the 12-ounce loaf of French bread into 1-2 inch chunks and layer them evenly in the prepared baking dish.

5-Fifth, pour the egg mixture over the bread and gently fold to make sure all pieces are soaked.

6-Sixth, cover the dish and chill it in the refrigerator for at least one hour or up to 18 hours overnight to let the bread absorb the flavors. Before baking, remove it from the fridge about an hour ahead to reach room temperature for even cooking.
